Frequently asked questions.

What if my pet passes away at home?

If your pet passes away at home, you may schedule a transfer through our services. We then come to your home and bring your pet to our facility. You also have the option of bringing your pet directly to our facility during our hours of operation. Some individuals choose to place their pets in a carrier or a box for easier transport. Please contact us at (780) 756-7387 with any further inquiries.

Do you provide euthanasia services?

While we do not have a veterinarian on staff, our staff at The Meadows can direct you to one of our Veterinary partners for their assistance. Alternatively, you have the option of arranging a mobile service to say goodbye to your pet at The Meadows, either indoors in our comfort room, or outside in the meadow located on our property.

Is there a way I can view my pet before they are cremated?

Yes, you may request an opportunity to view your pet. If you are personally delivering your pet to us or if we have picked up your pet from a vet clinic, you have the possibility of coming to The Meadows to spend some final moments alone with your pet. Family members and friends may also attend. Our viewing room is designed for the purpose of being able to share this time in a comforting and private setting.

Can blankets, toys or flowers be cremated with my Pet?

Small blankets, toys, and flowers can be cremated alongside your pet. Please note blankets must be made of a thin fabric and final approval is provided upon arrival.

What is a Witness Cremation?

During a witness cremation, you and your family members have the opportunity of viewing the beginning stages of the cremation process. We firstly give you an opportunity to view your pet to say your final goodbyes, then proceed with the cremation whenever you are ready. Unless otherwise requested, the stage you will witness is your pet being gently placed into the cremation chamber. There is an $250 fee for this service.

What is the difference between private and communal cremations?

During a private cremation, your pet is placed into the crematorium chamber alone and their ashes are returned to you and your family. During a communal cremation, your pet is cremated alongside other pets, and their cremains are scattered in our peaceful scattering meadow.

Can I visit my pet in the Scattering Meadows?

Absolutely! The Meadows where our communally cremated remains are scattered is located on our property and is available for families to visit. Other furry family members may also be brought along to walk through the meadow with your family (leashes required). Please give us a call at (780) 756 - 7387 to book your visit at The Meadows.

How soon can I expect my pet to be returned to me after cremation?

The Meadows has a return time of 3 - 5 business days for cremated remains, with the exception of directly engraved products (up to 21 business days) and Peartree impressions (12-14 weeks). Scheduling a certain day to carry out the cremation is $250, and same day return of your pet’s cremated remains is a possibility for an additional $80.

Do you provide burial services?

At this time, The Meadows does not provide burial services. However, you are more than welcome to visit your pet’s cremated remains in The Scattering Meadow.

Will my Pet Insurance cover the costs of cremation services?

Some pet insurance companies do cover the cost of after-life care. However, we advise contacting your insurance provider to verify the terms of your individual policy. We can provide any required documentation needed by your insurance company, just send us an email at office.themeadows@gmail.com.
